WHY WE ARE AN ESOP

LSA became 100% employee-owned in 1984, beginning with founder Larry Seeman’s transition of company ownership to staff. Our ESOP reflects a core belief: professionals who build the firm should share in its success. Every employee has a stake in LSA’s performance, creating accountability and alignment across the company. The ESOP anchors our retirement benefits, with profits distributed equitably based on percentage of income—an approach that has helped LSA retain approximately 30% of employees for over 15 years. Employee ownership also ensures generational succession, preserving the firm’s reputation while rewarding those who sustain it.

Reducing LSA’s Environmental Footprint, One Step at a Time

The LSA Green Team partners with maintenance staff to improve facility management. In doing so, the LSA Green Team has implemented initiatives such as office-wide recycling, low-flow faucets, automatic light switches, and environmentally responsible cleaning/post-consumer content cleaning products. Additionally, the LSA Green Team encourages staff to reduce its carbon footprint and operate efficiently through efforts such as double-sided printing whenever possible, turning off lights and appliances when not in use, using reusable dishware and utensils, purchasing reusable office supplies, and carpooling to meetings and events. Our Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Plan is both measurable and practical, and it has been wholeheartedly adopted by each office.

SUSTAINABILITY IN ACTION
  • LSA Green Team coordinates volunteer events, sustainability initiatives, and employee engagement.
  • As recommended by the Green Team, LSA staff members participate in community service events such as beach cleanups, habitat restoration, Earth Day events, and e-waste recycling events.
  • LSA’s office operations include recycling programs, low-flow fixtures, automatic lights, and eco-friendly products.
  • Staff members are encouraged to practice sustainability at work with double-sided printing, energy conservation, reusable supplies, and carpooling.
  • LSA provides education and engagement by providing Weekly Green Tips and the Green Calendar.
  • LSA has companywide adoption through implementation of a Sustainability Plan initiated across all California offices.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Why It Matters, Where We Give Back.

  • LSA participates annually in the International Coastal Cleanup, removing trash from Southern California beaches and waterways.
  • LSA coordinates habitat restoration events at Newport Back Bay, planting native, drought‑tolerant species.
  • LSA’s office‑wide Earth Day “Dark Day” initiative focused on energy conservation, achieving a 10%+ reduction in consumption.
  • LSA Green Team coordinates and organizes volunteer opportunities and encourages employee participation.
  • LSA values our ongoing community partnerships working alongside local organizations and residents.
WHY IT MATTERS

As a firm that specializes in diversified environmental consulting services, LSA has the opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to the environment not only through work as a leader in its field, but also through participation in community service events. The Green Team provides a means of implementing these volunteer initiatives in a way that also encourages employee participation and engagement.

WHERE WE GIVE BACK

LSA has participated in several environmentally focused community service events in the surrounding community, including Earth Day initiatives, habitat restorations, and cleanups.

Earth Day Events: For Earth Day, the Green Team held a “Dark Day” to raise awareness among employees, clients, and the community regarding energy conservation. For the entire work day, employees were encouraged to turn off their lights, unplug unnecessary devices, and conserve energy wherever possible. Compared to an average of previous years’ energy usage on the same day, the Irvine Office reduced its energy consumption by over 10 percent for the “Dark Day.”

International Coastal Cleanup Day: Each year, the Ocean Conservancy works with organizations like the California Coastal Commission to host the world’s largest volunteer event: International Coastal Cleanup Day. Employees participated in several cleanups throughout Southern California, working alongside members of the community to remove trash from river mouths, beaches, and other coastal areas to prevent ocean pollution.

Habitat Restoration at Newport Back Bay: LSA employees volunteered at two habitat restoration events at Newport Back Bay. At each event, LSA staff helped plant drought-tolerant species native to the Orange County area, remove invasive weed species, and water newly planted vegetation.
